The Time Miss Daisy Rode a Freight Elevator (Yes, Really)

Miss Daisy has seen a lot of driveways, barns, and open fields in her day. But nothing quite prepared her for a ride up a freight elevator to a ballroom on the upper floors of the JW Marriott in Nashville, TN.

We had the honor of bringing our vintage 1971 VW Bus to a corporate event at the JW Marriott, and it's safe to say this booking will go down as one of the most memorable in SunKissed Photo Bus history.

Not Your Average Setup

Miss Daisy is a creature of habit. She loves sunshine, open air, and enough room to stretch her wheels. So when this Nashville corporate client asked us to set her up indoors, inside a ballroom, we knew this one would be a little different — in the best way.

There was just one small problem: getting a 1971 Volkswagen Bus from the ground floor to a ballroom several stories up isn't exactly something you do every day. Enter the freight elevator.

The Tightest Squeeze Yet

We're not exaggerating when we say Miss Daisy barely fit. Every inch counted as she eased her way into that elevator, with mirrors folded in and hearts held tight on our end. It was a full team effort, careful maneuvering, and a whole lot of trust that our girl could handle it.

Since we weren't able to fire her up indoors (completely understandable — nobody wants exhaust in a ballroom!), Miss Daisy made the trip the old-fashioned way: in neutral, pushed every foot of the way by their crew. No engine, no fumes, just good old-fashioned muscle getting her exactly where she needed to be.

Protecting That Beautiful Carpet

The JW Marriott staff went above and beyond to make this happen smoothly. Knowing Miss Daisy has a few decades of character (and the occasional drop of oil to prove it), the team laid down a plastic tarp along her path to protect the ballroom's carpet the entire way. It was a great reminder of just how much planning goes on behind the scenes to pull off a booking like this — and how wonderful it is to work with venue staff who go the extra mile.

Ballroom Glam, Bus Style

Once she was in place, Miss Daisy looked right at home — a totally different vibe from her usual spot parked in a field or driveway at a wedding. This event had a full rodeo theme, complete with gingham tablecloths, string lights, and a whiskey bar built out of corrugated tin, so Miss Daisy fit right into the fun, laid-back atmosphere. Guests grabbed cowboy hats and bandanas from our prop station and piled into the bus for photos all night long. It just goes to show she can hold her own anywhere, indoors or out, glam or down-home — Miss Daisy adapts to whatever vibe the party calls for.
